This is a little snippet from an email I received this morning from my bassoon professor. So, so, so different from what I’ve been trained to think.
“Auditions are a fact of every musician’s life – so embrace the discomfort, work as hard as you can to prepare and learn from the actual experience. Auditions are not judgments about you as a person, but judgments about a snapshot of your abilities at a given time.”
